When Raw GM Eric Bischoff made his return after a four-week long vacation, he had to make one of the biggest decisions in the history of the show. With the World Heavyweight Championship vacated by Mr. McMahon, Bischoff had to determine its fate. While Triple H, Chris Benoit and Edge all felt they deserved the Championship due to the happenings in their Triple Threat match two weeks ago, Bischoff decided to keep the Championship vacated until New Years Revolution. On January 9 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, Triple H, Benoit and Edge will be joined by Chris Jericho, Randy Orton and Batista in the most brutal match ever created the Elimination Chamber.
Upon hearing the news of his impending World Championship Match, Edge was fuming.
"I think its a horrible decision, he said. I think I should be World Heavyweight Champion. Ive been screwed over too many times. The examples are countless. At Taboo Tuesday it was left up to the fans. It should never be left up to the fans. I should be the World Heavyweight Champion, but instead they gave the shot to a gimp. They gave it to a half-crippled man, Shawn Michaels, who couldnt make the most of the opportunity. I would have.
"Then there was the Battle Royal. I should have won that. I did win it. It should have been decided that I would go on to face Triple H and then gone on to defeat him, but no, no, no. That couldnt happen because Randy Orton made it a Triple Threat. When that match went down I won again. I keep getting screwed. So, now I have to fight in the most vile creation in this industry the Elimination Chamber.
Not only is Edge without the World Heavyweight Championship right now, but now Randy Orton, Chris Jericho and Batista have a shot at the grandest prize of them all, even though they werent involved in the controversial Triple Threat match. And thats a fact that Edge has definitely thought about.
"I dont understand how all of these new names got inserted into the mix, said the irate Superstar. The issue is between Triple H, Chris Benoit and myself. How does Y2J suddenly get involved in the mix? Randy Orton, Batista
theyre undeserving. Theres only one deserving champion and its me.
The Elimination Chamber is a match so unpredictable and so dangerous, that its extremely hard to prepare for according to Edge.
"How can you prepare for a match like this? Ive never been involved in one, he said. How do you prepare yourself to be enclosed in a pod not knowing when youll be released and have a cage above you and around you? You dont. You just go in and fight for your life. But to me the World Heavyweight Championship is more important to me than life itself, so thats exactly what Ill do.
